Who is Nic

Nic Douglass is an Australian sailing commentator, presenter and media personality known for her energetic, insightful and athlete focused storytelling across the international sailing world.

With a background in communications, broadcasting and live sport, Nic works across high performance sailing as a host, commentator and content producer, helping audiences connect more deeply with the sport and the people behind it. Her work spans live commentary, stage hosting, athlete interviews, content strategy and multi platform storytelling.

Nic has held official on site roles at the Olympic Games, serving as host, commentator and Victory Ceremony presenter for the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 sailing competitions. She is also the host, sailing content manager and live stream producer for Hamilton Island Race Week, and serves as Ambassador, Sailing Content Manager and Media Partner for the Festival of Sails.

Nic is widely recognised for her independent storytelling around major sailing events, including the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, America’s Cup campaigns and SailGP. Across the first four SailGP seasons she served as Adrenaline Lounge Host at more than 20 events, including the full Season 4 calendar, alongside extensive on site reporting and storytelling across the global series.

Through Sunset Media and Sailor Girl HQ, Nic leads content strategy and production across a range of major sailing programs, including the TP52 Australia Class, the Pallas Capital Gold Cup and the LGT Wealth Management Australia Cup, while continuing to produce independent coverage that supports sailors, events and partners throughout the sport.

Known to many in the sailing community as “Sailor Girl”, Nic combines strong technical understanding shaped by her own competitive sailing background with a natural ability to connect with athletes and audiences alike.

Beyond media and event work, Nic is a SheSails Ambassador for Australian Sailing and is actively involved in participation initiatives, including the Sail Our Way project, focused on growing engagement and creating pathways for women and new participants nationally.

Away from the microphone, Nic continues to race whenever possible and enjoys life on the water with her Australian Kelpies, Nimue and Vivienne.
